College Level Persuasive Essay Topics

College Level Persuasive Essay TopicsCollege level persuasive essay topics are always a challenge for students. With hundreds of required topics for many classes, it is easy to become discouraged and even lose sight of the main goal: writing your own personal statement. The real challenge of persuasive essay topics for college level writing courses comes from the fact that each topic is actually an essay. It must address both the student's goals and the class expectations. Since the assignment is likely to be chosen by several different students, it is important to know how to address each of these two competing objectives. When writing college level persuasive essays, the most common theme of these assignments is religion. This has been a tradition since the time of Socrates. His interlocutors challenged him on his allegorical observations of the good, true, and beautiful; it is still the dominant theme. The purpose of this is to answer the common questions posed to students in class. While some may ask, 'Are you telling me to write about my religion?' you can always choose to reply, 'I'm telling you to write about what you want to, not what you think you should.'On the other hand, some students might ask, 'What do you mean by that?' If you are not providing a direct answer to this question, then you can always try to leave a bit of doubt about it in the students' minds. For example, you could even create a debate between your 'personal view' of your religion and your professor's actual opinion on your religion. Or, you can even make statements such as, 'My opinion of your religion is based on my personal experience with the teachings of the Bible.'Your relationship with God and faith will be explored throughout this assignment. The truth of who we are, how we relate to others, and what God wants us to do in this life are all part of this topic. Your life story, not to mention your perspectives on events and individuals in the past and present, will be explored h ere.As you prepare for your college level, persuasive essay topics, make sure that you include this portion of your project in your homework. As you do your planning for your studies, this can be an excellent and insightful research tool. So many people never write these kinds of assignments because they do not have any idea where to begin. They simply wait until their papers are done before beginning their research.

A Political Activists And Author Ralph Nader - 1464 Words

A political activists and author, Ralph Nader, wrote the book Unstoppable to give a detailed explanation of the emerging Left-Right alliance that dismantles the corporate state. Nader covers many of the important issues that are occurring currently, and most importantly, he has explained past occurrences that many people have looked passed. As a student, I feel as though it is important that he explains many political things in ways where we can understand what is truly happening in the political world. Nader explains thoroughly the potential for an enduring Left-Right alliance and the obstacles it is going to take to over come them. In chapter 4, Nader begins listing the twenty-five proposed redirections and reforms through convergent actions. I most certainly agree with Nader that a Left-Right convergence is an effective way to bring policy solutions to the list because this way people will begin to pay attention to the listed topics. For example, â€Å"Expand contributions to cha rity, using them to increase jobs and drawing on available dead money† (Nader page 65). There are so many people who do not have any income coming in their family, and so it would be more than appropriate for people to have a job and help those in need. The government has so much money that they like to hide from the public saying that â€Å"they don’t have enough money† yet there is no audit â€Å"for the 9 billion unaccounted for the first months of the Iraq war† (Nader page 72). Various Causes of Global Warming

Question: Write an essay on Various Causes of Global Warming? Answer: Introduction: Currently it is seen that the global warming and the climatic changes is been considered as one of the major issues which is taking place in the environment. In various types of research works it has been found that as the temperature of the environment is increasing and it is creating a massive impact in the eco system and also on the individuals. It is observed that in the ecosystem the rate of pollution is increasing and along with that there is also increase of human population in the system and the human population has a major role in creating the pollution in the eco system and when they are creating this they do not have any idea that they are creating pollution in the environment. Therefore it can be said that this is one of the major part in the ecosystem who are responsible for decreasing the rate of pollution in the environment. Later part of the assignment we will also discuss about the reasons of global warming and what are it impact in the ecosystem and also discuss abo ut certain recommendations which will be required for decreasing the pollution from the system. Various Causes of Global Warming During recent scenario it is seen that there are different issues which is creating a massive impact in the environment with the climate and the major issues for this is the globalization and the industrialization. Some other factors are also there which are also taking a major part in formulating the pollution which is creating in the ecosystem. With the help of research studies it has been found that air pollution is playing the major role which is increasing the rate of pollution in the ecosystem and it is depleting the ozone layer and for that reason this layer is facing the failure to save the earth from protecting from the pollution and it is affecting the greenery as the ultraviolet ray is destroying the greenery and the layer above the ozone layer is unable to save the planet from this rays (Chen, and Thomas, 2011). According to (Brown, 2015), it is seen that deforestation is considered as one of the major reason for the causing of global warming. As the number of tress is decreasing it is creating a lot of global warming as the level of carbon dioxide is increasing and it is effecting the environment of the eco-space. Various types of species are getting affected due to the global warming in the ecosystem and the main reason for this type the negligence of the human beings and creating a lot of problems in the environment. Figure-1- Various Reasons of Global Warming. Global Warming and its Impact Different types of changes are taking place in the ecosystem. The main reasons for these types of changes are the affect which is taking place due to global climate in a greater amount. According to the research it is seen that the temperature of ocean water is increasing. It has risen to 0.72 centigrade and the overall raise of temperature is by 2-3 centigrade all over the globe. The more amount of temperature it will kill a lot of animals and human beings (Cook, and Skuce, 2013). In the Polar Regions it has been observed that the water of the sea level is increasing due to global warming and for these reasons naturals hazards like tsunami, hurricane are effecting various regions of the planet Earth. Before, various types of animals and birds used to migrate from one place to other but due to global warming they have stopped migrating at that rate. Figure-2- Global Warming and its Impact After the analysis of various researchers it has been found that the economy will be facing recession as the natural resources will be getting affected due to global warming. As the heat of global warming is increasing it will affect the ecosystem with much impact on the species of the planet (Www2.ucar.edu, 2015). Expectations from the Individuals: Individuals are responsible for the changes taking place in the environment due to climatic changes. It is responsibility of the individuals to take certain measures so that they can take action against these types of changes (Trenberth, and Sheffield, 2014). Proper decisions have to taken to save our planet. The research studies shows that the climatic changes which are taking place is affecting the environment a lot especially the agricultural section and greenery. Researchers has also found that in the coming future various types of animals and trees will go extinct because of these global warming. It is seen that in the sea there is loss of alkaline and that is one of the reason the sea water is turning acidic and this is affecting the underwater animals. The acid in the sea water is affecting the plankton of the sea (Reed, 2015). In order to minimize the problem the green house effect and the climate change would be handled As in the research study it is already seen that green house effect and the global warming is one of the major global problems. The governments are taking certain steps so that they can deal with these environmental problems (Pindyck, 2013). The governments have undertaken various steps and they have agreed to these agreements so that they can tackle all the environmental problems. An international agreement called Kyoto Protocol has been made with the agreements of all the government heads and these has been agreed by the industrialists of the countries so that they can lessen the green house gas effect. As the industries have implemented the agreements after that there is decrease of green house gas with 5.2% from 29% of the gas in 2010 (Cooke, 2014). In the Kyoto Protocol there are six major steps which will help in decreasing the effect of green house gas. The steps are- Energy and their renewable sources The main source of pollution is the vehicles and industries. The amount of energy the industries and the vehicles are consuming they are burning fuel of those consumed energy and the carbon dioxide is mixing with the air and it is polluting the air in which the species are breathing. So, the governments have taken certain actions to save the globe from the gases of green house and for that at first the natural resources need to be protected. So, the government has planned that by the year 2050 they will bring an alternative source of the energy. Fossil fuel is one of the alternative source and with the burning of fossil fuel there will be lesser amount of pollution (Wwf.org.au, 2015). Transportation of less carbon When the industries and the vehicles are consuming large amount of energies and for that the carbon production is becoming more and so steps need to be taken so that large amount of carbon cannot be produced. Batteries are being invented which will save the energy of Sun and restore those energy as Solar Energy which will be used as prevention of more amount of green house gas. To restore large amount of solar energies hydroelectric power are also invented (Haugen, Musser, S. and Lovelace, 2010). Preservation of Forests Deforestation is occurring due to industrialization all over the globe. As number of trees is decreasing this is affecting the balance of the planet Earth and affecting the ecosystem in high amount. Trees are one of the major constituents which is maintaining the balance of ecosystem with the environment. Greeneries helps is purifying the air as they intake carbon dioxide and exhale the oxygen gas and making the air pollution free. The Amazon forest has got affected a lot due to the climate changes and global warming. The mangrove forests are also getting affected due to climate change. So, to deal with such types of problems the government needs to take various types of international initiatives which will help in decreasing the global and green house gas from the environment (Dillon, and Huey, 2010). Approaches by Human beings for the change Since the past 200 years there is vast change in the civilization of human beings. The needs and the requirements of the human beings are changing and that need to be reduced so that the level of pollution can also be reduces and for that steps and certain steps also need to be taken. The UN consultant is responsible to each measure which are taken so that the level of pollution can be decreased which is in the economy (Goudie, 2013). Conclusion In a nutshell it can be said that the main reason of the degradation of environment and the destructive changes taking place in the climate are the human beings. So, the human beings only have to take the measures which will help in decrease the level of destruction. The government has agreed with the deals and those agreements need to implement so that the planet Earth can be secured which will be beneficial for our future generation. References Brown, A. The major merchandises in the brewery industry are beer, stout and non-alcoholic drinks ( Corporate Nigeria, 2010/2011 ) . For the intent of this paper, beer will be used to imply lager and stout. We will write a custom essay on The Brewery Industry In Nigerian Markets Business specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now The industry experienced a roar in the seventiess due to the fledging oil industry and quickly increased from less than five n 1970 to over 30 by 1980 ( Obot, 2000 ) . The ownership of the houses in the industry are either public or state-owned with or without foreign partnership. There are challenges of high operational costs due to importing, expert-skilled labor, care of machinery and equipments. These challenges have lead to the closing of rather a figure of the smaller houses in the early 80s go forthing merely the big houses with strong fiscal base.. At present, there are 13 brewery ( Nigerian Custom Service, 2011 ) companies left with merely four listed under the Nigerian Stock Exchange ( This Day, 2011 ) . The industry is at the adulthood phase of its life rhythm but still remains one of the endeavoring industry in the Nigerian fabrication sector. It has a direct employment of over 30,000 forces and an indirect employment of over 300,000 1000 forces as a consequence of the houses supplying accessory services to the industry ( Equity Research study, 2006 ) . Nigerian Breweries and Guinness Nigeria are the two major participants in the industry with. Nigerian Breweries taking the market with approximately 65 % market portion while Guinness Nigeria follows with approximately 25 % . They both enjoy economic systems of graduated table and have good return on their investing ( Corporate Nigeria, 2010/2011 ) . Analysiss of Macro-environmental factors Every industry is affected by factors in the environment in which they operate. These factors which they have no direct control over, may either impact positively or negatively on the industry. The factors used for this analysis are Political, Economic, Social and Technology. Political The Nigerian political history after independency in 1960 has been characterized by a collection of military and civilian authoritiess. The military governments had adversely affected the existent sector, an illustration was the prohibition placed on importing of barley ; the natural stuff for production of beer, by the military authorities of Buhari in 1987 ( Porter A ; Phillips-Howard, 1994 ) . However the past 12 old ages of civilian authorities has witnessed comparative stableness in most parts of the state except for the jitteriness in the Niger Delta part, which has dwindled the state s rough oil gross. It is expected that the ongoing elections will successfully show in a new civilian authorities that will farther stabilise the civil order and make an enabling environment that will pull foreign investors and excite the resuscitation of the existent sector ( Corporate Nigeria, 2010/2011 ) . Economic Nigeria operates a assorted economic system which encourages the co-existence of both the private sectors and the province in the market topographic point. It is an emerging economic system with possible economic power given the abundant resources. The state s economic system is good diversified along sectoral categorization with the oil sector accounting for over 80 % of its GDP, through rough oil export thereby doing its gross extremely susceptible to the vagaries of the tendencies in the international market ( Corporate Nigeria, 2010/2011 ) . The economic system is supported by a really resilient and purely regulated fiscal system that has gone through several reforms within the past decennary. While the exchange rate has been comparatively stable in the past two old ages, involvement rates have been closely regulated by the Central Bank of Nigeria while attempts to convey rising prices rate below individual figure has been elusive. Other factors that have contributed to the rough economic clime in Nigeria are deficiency of power and unequal substructure. The period between old ages 2000 and 2010 has witnessed the closing of more than 850 industries. However, with the tendency of addition in the fabrication GDP over the past old ages ( i.e. 2008: 3.6 % , 2009: 4.2 % ) , it is expected that a stable terrain will go on to pull investors in old ages to come ( Corporate Nigeria, 2010/2011 ) . Social Nigeria with its population of about 150 million is a immense potency market for investors. The state is the 2nd largest beer market in Africa after South Africa. South Africa with a population of 47.9million harmonizing to 2007 statistical informations, has a beer ingestion per capita of 50 hectoliters while Nigeria has 10 hectoliters per capita. Industry operators are of the position that the bing houses capacity are non plenty to run into the demand of the market, and there is therefore room for enlargement ( Momoh, 2009 ) . .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142 , .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142 .postImageUrl , .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142 , .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142:hover , .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142:visited , .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142:active { border:0!important; } .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142:active , .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142 .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u0bd1e6304137fd0febabd134f8d2e142:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Sleep Disorders EssayNigeria is a diverse state with over 250 cultural groups. The population of the state gives a spiritual spread of Muslims ( 50 % ) , Christians ( 40 % ) and autochthonal faiths ( 10 % ) . The Muslims and Pentecostal Christians do non indulge in beer ingestion due to their spiritual beliefs ( Corporate Nigeria, 2010/2011 ) The above notwithstanding, beer ingestion remains a societal activity in Nigeria and the sale of the trade good has continued to increase from twelvemonth to year.. Technology The brewery industry is extremely capital intensifier. This accounts for the ground why the ownership construction is either public and/or state-owned with/without foreign partnership. The engineering for the industry, trim parts and expert technicians are non available in state and hence extremely dependent on foreign exchange. Guinness for illustration has Diego of Ireland as its foreign spouse ( Trade Invest, 2009 ) . The prohibition on importing of barley in 1987 necessitated the industry to settle for local replacement of corn and sorghum as natural stuffs for its production. The end point works transition to suit the new natural stuff input-mix cost Nigerian Brewery a humongous amount of 100million naira! ( Equity Research study, 2006 ) . One of the major challenges confronting the industry is the care of equipments and machinery. The participants commit immense fiscal resources in engineering and ascents in order to stay competitory ( Equity Research study, 2006 ) . Analysis of Industry Competitiveness utilizing Porter Five Forces Industry fight is said to determined by dickering power of purchasers, power of providers, menaces of new rivals, menace of replacement merchandises and competition among existing houses. The profitableness of the industry is determined by these five Forces as they influence monetary values, costs and required investing ( Porter, 1985 ) . Dickering Power of Buyers Buyers create demand in the market and their bargaining power would stand for a strong competitory force if they have sufficient bargaining purchase to act upon and obtain monetary value grants and other favorable footings and conditions of sale ( Thompson et al, 2010 ) . In the instance of the brewery industry, consumers are scattered across specific parts in the state. Some provinces in the Northern portion of Nigeria do non allow the sale of alcoholic drinks due to spiritual beliefs. The monetary value snap demand for gross revenues of brewery merchandises is inelastic, an addition in monetary value may non hold a important impact on demand. A lessening in consumer disposable income may hold a little impact on demand, as purchasers may travel for cheaper trade names or replacement merchandises. The debut of a new merchandise into market that is non related to the brewery industry may vie with brewery merchandises for consumer disposable income. The debut of GSM service into the Nigerian market in 2003 created a serious competition for the brewery industry ( Equity Research study, 2006 ) . The industry has good distribution webs, in fact, they are the purchasers in the industry as they control motion of the merchandises from the manufacturer to the retail merchants, and therefore find the monetary value of the merchandises to a certain extent. This unluckily does non let interaction between the manufacturers and the consumers, nevertheless the participants in the industry particularly the two large participants strive to keep contact with their consumers by advertizements, publicity of events and besides sponsorships of assorted programmes and activities ( Jernigan A ; Obot, 2006 ) . Dickering Power of Suppliers Suppliers in the industry include distributers of natural stuffs, constituents and finished merchandises. Such constituents include bottles, crown corks, labels e.t.c. These services are outsourced because the Nigerian jurisprudence does non allow the brewery houses to bring forth them ( Equity Research study, 2006 ) . There are more distributers and providers than bing brewery houses in being. The natural stuffs and constituents being uniform give the makers the luxury to take their providers at will ( Equity Research study, 2006 ) . Nigerian Breweries entirely has about 147 distributers and jobbers within the state ( Famurewa A ; Orekoya, 2008 ) . However the distributers may present a menace to the industry during industrial actions. Menace of new Entrants Harmonizing to Porter, the menace of new entrants will impact the profitableness of an industry ( Porter, 1985 ) as the officeholders may be forced to take down their monetary values in order to deter new entrants thereby cut downing profitableness. In the Nigerian Brewery industry, some factors which help to raise barrier to entry include capital demands, legal costs, economic systems of graduated table, distribution webs ( oppapers.com, 2011 ) . Nigerian Breweries and Guinness both have foreign proficient spouses who provide the needful proficient and fiscal aid ( Corporate Nigeria, 2010/2011 ) . The other companies are chiefly public or province owned and are localised within their part. There were no new entrant into the concern, until 2009 when SABMiller a South African company came on watercourse with the acquisition of Peabody Breweries and Standard Breweries. SABMiller scheme in deriving portion of the market portion was to bring forth low cost beer for a section of the market who could non afford the premium trade name of the bing market. However Nigeria Breweries was already bring forthing such through Consolidated Breweries one of its subordinate ( Corporate Nigeria, 2010/2011 ) . .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd , .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd .postImageUrl , .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd , .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd:hover , .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd:visited , .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd:active { border:0!important; } .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd:active , .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u1027d9328f2ada0c68f9f774f5987bfd:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Mercent of Venice EssayMenace of Substitute The handiness of replacement may impact an industry s profitableness as consumers may make up ones mind to exchange to a utility merchandise ( Boeing et al, 2008 ) . In Nigeria the ingestion of traditional drinks such as burukutu, palm vino and ogogoro has a cultural affinity among consumers in the rural and urban countries. Other possible replacements include alcoholic drinks such as vino, brandy, vodka and non alcoholic drinks such as malt, juice, soft and energy drinks. The alcoholic drinks are known to be consumed by a higher section of the society ( Jernigan A ; Obot, 2006 ) , while the non-alcoholic drinks are to aim the non-beer consuming spiritual groups. Beer nevertheless remains the drink of pick as some surveies carried out have shown its prevailing penchant over other alcoholic drinks ( Obot, 2000 ) . Beer is known to account for 96 % of alcoholic gross revenues in Nigeria ( Corporate Nigeria, 2010/2011 ) . Intensity of Rivalry among existing houses This is a step of the extent to which bing houses compete among each other for clients, this could be monetary value and non-price based ( Boeing et al, 2008 ) . In the industry as mentioned earlier, competition is between the two major participants, nevertheless there are no monetary value wars as the merchandises are differentiated and monetary value differences are undistinguished. The industry produces 22 trade names of laager and 4 trade names of stout besides other non-alcoholic drinks, Nigerian Breweries dominates the market in the larger ( Star ) section while Guinness dominates the stout ( Guinness ) section ( Corporate Nigeria, 2010/2011 ) . For non-priced based competition, the two companies compete on merchandise inventions, such as packaging, stigmatization and advertizements. Consumers have witnessed invention of packaging from bottle to can and sip-it battalions. Summary of Five Forces A sum-up of the five forces is herewith presented in the tabular array below utilizing cardinal drivers and attendant consequence on industry ( Boeing et al, 2008 ) . Table 1 Outline1 Force2 Key drivers3 Consequence4 Company5 Gross ( 2009 ) m6 Market portion7 Market share^2 Force Key drivers Consequence Power of purchasers Concentration is high, no bargaining purchase Low Power of providers Suppliers more than Manufacturers Low Menace of replacement Increased growing in replacement industry High Menace of new Entrant High barrier to entry Low Intensity of competition Two major rivals Moderate Overall analysis Moderate SWOT Analysis SWOT analysis will be used to mensurate an organisation s strengths and failings, chances and menaces in the industry on a four cell chart ( Dibb et al, 2006 ) . Figure 1 Strength Economies of graduated table Strong fiscal base Experience High staff turn-over Inflexible engineering Cost Control Failing Opportunity Technology Market growing Good distribution web Govt statute law Continued low border Failure to capture mkt growing Menace ( Dibbs et al, 2006 ) Recommendations With strength and chance, an organisation in the industry can capitalise by enlargement or acquisition of weaker houses. An organisation with chance and internal failing should watch the market easy and explicate a scheme to construct on its failing. A weak organisation confronting menace should take the strategic turn-around required, by go outing the concern or let itself to be taken over by a bigger house. An organisation with strength but confronting menace should utilize its strength to get the better of its failing ( Dibb et al, 2006 ) Hirschmann Herfindahl Index ( HHI ) HHI is a measuring of the concentration of an industry. It is measured by squaring the amount of the market portion within that industry. A HHI figure greater than 1800 connote an industry that is well concentrated ( Boeing et al, 2008 ) . Table 2 Company Gross ( 2009 ) m Market portion Market share^2 Nigerian Breweries $ 1,100 65 % 4,225 Guinness Nigeria $ 587.7 25 % 625 Others 10 % 100 Entire 4,950 ( Corporate Nigeria, 2010/2011 ) . The HHI step gives a figure of 4,950 which shows a extremely concentrated industry be givening towards an oligopoly ( Boeing et al, 2008 ) . Decision The brewery industry has proved to be a sustainable concern in Nigeria with over six ( 6 ) decennaries of operation and holding survived old ages of unstable civil order, economic downswings and different authorities policy and reforms. The industry has been systematically dominated by Nigerian Breweries and Guinness and is unhappily apt towards oligopoly with the acquisition of five bing breweries by Nigerian Breweries ( allAfrica.com, 2011 ) . Nigeria is still considered one of the least penetrated beer market in the universe in footings of its demographic population of over 150million ( allAfrica.com, 2011 ) . More investors are decidedly welcome, nevertheless such investors will necessitate to perpetrate immense capital spending to construct workss or get existing houses and besides make a strong distribution web in order to vie with the bing houses. Beer ingestion is a win-win state of affairs, Nigerians drink when they are happy and wish to observe, they besides drink when they are sad or emotionally down. The brewery industry will therefore continue to bask a sustained growing in the state.

Nike Considered Index TNS Review Final Essays

Nike Considered Index TNS Review Final Essays Nike Considered Index TNS Review Final Paper Nike Considered Index TNS Review Final Paper We refer to different aspects of the Index in this review, so a ascription of the approach and its parts is provided. We then give an overall assessment, followed by technical examination of different parts of the Index and commentary on its public release. 1) Insight into the environmental impacts of materials used in product creation (material scores). 2) Incentives for Nikkei to make more sustainable products, in line with the companys priorities and goals (product scores). 3) Communication of the performance results using Nines internal standards (Considered benchmarks e. . Gold standard). 4) Company targets for continual improvement (stretch goals for eating com panky-wide benchmarks of product performance by a given year e. G. All footwear to be Considered Bronze by 2011). The two main tools that make up the approach are: Assessment Method Backdating from Success The assessment has been conducted using both the sustainability principles and backdating p lanning method of the unifying Framework for Strategic Sustainable Development, promoted by The Natural Step in collaboration with its international research and practitioner networks. Four science-based sustainability principles from the framework describe success in terms of the conditions added for a sustainable society, providing an operational definition of sustainability that allows for a gap analysis between where we are today and where we need to arrive at in the future. From this whole systems perspective, it needs to be clearly stated that there is no such thing as a sustainable or an unsustainable material or product; there are only sustainable material and resource management practices. Product and material sustainability claims therefore need to be viewed carefully, and as part of a journey toward sustainability one that has many possible pathways. Material Assessment Tool (MAT). This tool scores and ranks the material types used to manufacture Nikkei products from least to most preferred. The scoring is based on: Major, known supply chain environmental issues within defined impact categories. A life cycle perspective, from cradle to gate. Publicly available data that is compiled and aggregated for general material types and typical supply chain scenarios. Third party input from specialists in materials environmental impact assessment methods. Weightings are assigned to impact categories, based on Nikkei priorities. 2. Understanding purpose and Context for the Index All tools serve a purpose. They need to be examined with their purpose in mind, and understood within the context in which they are used. To judge if this Index is a good tool for supporting Nines movement toward sustainability, Nines overall approach to sustainability must be understood: The Index has been developed to aid design and material choices as part of Nines Considered design ethos, which is part of an overall company sustainability agenda. Nikkei has long-standing commitments to sustainability in place. ; The tool is integrated into Nines innovation process. Dedicated personnel support the tools development and integration across the organization. The Index connects with, draws from and supports many other aspects of Nines sustainable business and innovation agenda (for example, procurement sustainability and audit programs, restricted substances lists, company targets and policies etc). The Considered Index. The Index rewards design innovation choices related to product creation by assigning scores to products. It encourages the selection of environmentally preferred materials (as scored in the Material Assessment Tool) as well as other practices where the designer can improve the environmental profile of the product, I. . Less waste generation, use of desired chemistry and an innovation bonus for breakthroughs that can be transferred across models. Nikkei uses these tools in a number of ways for example, aiding procurement decisions, setting of internal standards and more broadly for defining sustainable design performance. Nikkei has chosen to externally label Silver and Gold standard products, sending a signal to the consumer about Nines Considered design ethos. 2 Overall Assessment Using Sustainability as a Driver of Innovation Many traditional tools and approaches for measuring product or eternal sustainability take a static perspective, attempting to measure and assess the scale and severity of known issues and impacts today (primarily a risk avoidance approach). On their own these life cycle assessment approaches have limitations in terms of guiding strategic decision-making toward 1) sustainable resource management and 2) related business opportunities. Just as an analysis of any single move or piece of sports gear used in a football game cannot tell you who will win, one needs to look at the whole picture. Organizations wishing to use the Index and build from Nines experience should bear this in mind and ensure they build the necessary competencies and structures in place to make the best use of the results from the Index. It is therefore refreshing to see the approach Nikkei has taken combining quantitative material assessment with qualitatively- derived scores rewarding improvements in product creation. This approach highlights an evolution in thinking on measuring sustainability away from solely impact minimization and movement toward an innovation enabling strategic perspective. We believe this Index is a powerful demonstration of an overall backdating approach for enabling sustainable design innovation, not simply a set of tools for measuring movement away from environmental impacts.

Abstract format - Essay Example In their study, Allen, Gibson, McLean, Davis, and Byrne (2014), wanted to establish the ancestry and maternal aspects that may foretell increases or decreases in the signs of a child eating disorder over a duration. The Allen, Gibson, McLean, Davis, and Byrne (2014), study had 221 participants, mother-child dyads. The study participants were evaluated at baselines; 1-year and 2-years sequel. The investigators used linear mixed models and other methods to find the forecasters of the signs of child eating disorder. The findings of the study showed that the youngsters of mothers with a preceding or current eating condition registered considerably higher levels of worldwide indicators of eating conditions as well as emotional food intake, compared to children of other mothers. Moreover, mothers with a preceding or current eating condition were more concerned of their children weight. Family susceptibility to constant worry/stress and little motherly education were additional risk considerations for eating disorder indicators. Allen, Gibson, McLean, Davis, and Byrne (2014), concluded that a mother’s concern of a child’s weight, stress in the family, the mother’s education level, and a child’s level of family gratification could foretell the signs of eating disorder in a child. The article is informative and fills the gap in research that family aspects can precisely foretell the signs of an eating disorder in a child. Moreover, the article addresses a relevant issue in our society, childhood obesity. Drobnjak, S., Atsiz, S., Ditzen, B., Tuschen-Caffier, B., & Ehlert, U. (2014). Restrained eating and self-esteem in premenopausal and postmenopausal women. Journal of Eating Disorders, 2 (23), 1-10. DOI:10.1186/s40337-014-0023-1 Drobnjak, Atsiz, Ditzen, Tuschen-Caffier, and Ehlert (2014) did the research because of the lack of information about disordered food consumption in middle-aged females. Effects of Honey as a dietary supplement on improving athletic Research Paper

Effects of Honey as a dietary supplement on improving athletic performance - Research Paper Example Several studies have indicated that honey can serve as a better source of glucose for athletes. From a biochemical point of view the carbohydrate composition of honey has been associated with the positive effects of honey on endurance and athletic performance. Athletes are generally advised to consume slow-burning sugars as they help in providing a sustained release of energy over a period of time. In this regard honey which contains the monosaccharide fructose as one of its main sugars, releases it slowing into the blood stream thus providing sustained energy and maintaining body homeostasis (Anderson, Young and Prior). Apart from fructose honey also contains large amounts of glucose. Both glucose and fructose are both monosaccharides with different chemical and structural differences as glucose is an aldose sugar and fructose a ketose sugar. Both these sugars differ in their energy metabolism despite having a quick burning tendency. In the case of glucose, the rapidly metabolized s ugars are immediately absorbed into the blood stream which provides instant energy to the body. However, the absorption of the sugars is a slow process which helps in providing the body with a sustained supply of energy over a period of time. In addition, honey also contains several phytochemical constituents which also contribute to slower absorption of fructose. In addition to these principle sugars, honey also contains several oligosaccharides including disaccharides and trisaccharides which are also slow burning. Among the disaccharides, honey contains sucrose, maltose, trehalose and turanose. And the trisaccharides include melezitose and raffinose (Sun and Empie; Caron; Bogdanov). Previous studies however, have reported that ingestion of honey just before an atheletic performance does not contribute to any increase in energy levels as it takes time for the honey to digest and provide the required energy. In cases where
